Giuseppe di Morabito FW 16/17 can probably be defined, vox populi, the virtual winner of this Altaroma edition. He won because he managed to inject wonder and beauty in everyone’s eyes.
Giuseppe di Morabito‘s girls have seen the floral heads painted by Arcimboldo, but after they summoned them, they contaminated that inspiration. A sophisticated and unexpected contamination. Once again it’s the mix of good and bad girl that takes shape and materializes in a romantic and rock style, dressing classic lines with modern interpretations.
Giuseppe di Morabito FW 16/17 and his Flora
The road the young designer from Calabria chose is one of refinement and enjoyable surprise. Feminine lace details and embroideries on sporty cuts are so fresh and joyful. The tableau he has painted for the audience is captivating and rich in poetry and ideas. Landscapes of his native land, flowers, colours and the romantic themes that blend with the urban and metropolitan experience. There are birds in cages that become the pattern of mini-flared dresses inspired to classics; the floral pattern on the long dresses with light and ethereal volaint; the forest green colours and the macramé lace.
The designer draws on his personal heritage. Just like over at Gucci where the popular Alessandro De Michele’s latest collections skillfully combine the historical elements that define the identity of the fashion house of which he is the voice, so Giuseppe di Morabito defines, skillfully and poetically, the elements of a young designer’s luggage who founded his brand in 2014. The way he does it is with care and attention to fabrics, details and choice of materials.
Abacus of a breath of fresh air made pungent by notes of rock for Giuseppe di Morabito FW 16/17
An incredibly edgy collection that transforms each item into a modern and desirable must have. The wardrobe every woman would love to have: classics reinterpreted creatively. The lines of a typical biker jacket – with asymmetrical zipper and belt buckle – are defined in a green forest cloth jacket with applications of powder pink ruffles. Net stockings reminiscent of Madonna in the 80’s or a contemporary Hedi Slimane, are embellished by embroidered flowers. The romantic tapestry typical of Liberty becomes rock with leather biker gloves and amphibians. Once again there are contrasts that capture and fulfill our way to be changable and fickle. Because we want what we wear to represent us, always.
