An ode to femininity and Romantic mood

Looking properly, yesterday, you could have found some last event for AltaRoma. For the most intimate. Where the faces were tired and the tension released. A veil of melancholy typical of things ending, especially the beautiful ones. Last night with no energy and with  high heeled shoes in my hand I got home …. I sit down and started writing.

A cercarlo bene, ieri, qualche ultimo evento per AltaRoma c’era.  Per i più intimi. Le facce ormai stanche e la tensione allentata. Un velo di malinconia come ogni volta che qualcosa finisce, soprattutto per quelle belle. Ieri sera, senza forze e con le scarpe in mano torno a casa….mi siedo e comincio a scrivere.

At 10 am last Tuesday (9th of July) the appointment was at the Museo Boncompagni for the exclusive preview of a very special collection that would take a body and a soul in the afternoon. But, to tell the truth, this collection, had a deep soul at first glance.

The preview for the press is always a special moment where the clothes are there, still and immovable. You can admire them and even touch softly “handing with care” for all the time necessary to understand the essence and the underlying sophistication.

When I arrived Antonella Rossi was already there. Intent to explain her modern fairy tale inspired by the story of love and passion between the mortal Psyche and the divine Love. “The shades of blue and natural colors of cream came to the sublimation of the wedding dress” she was saying sweetly. I was immediately kidnapped by the sensuality of the champagne, when the yellow ocher is denatured. Wrapped by the leitmotif of the whole collection,  a Romantic mood where the extreme femininity and the richness of materials made me think about a baroque revisited in a bonton way.

Lace, organza and chiffon. Embroidery on a pillow lace. Peonies and roses, flower with many petals and a velvety texture. Velvet and mikado strictly hand-dyed. Bouclé wool, cashmere and casentino worked with topstitching techniques that convey a different way of looking to the future.

And the future for Antonella Rossi was already present, her daughter Giulia. A sweet and determined girl that had designed the whole collection with a subtly classic style and a timeless elegance. Soft lines, high-waisted skirts and pants that emphasize the silhouette; lace and tulle that mix a contemporary nude look with a vintage aftertaste from the 40’s. A woman of today who knows what she wants, but that is not ashamed to show her fragility and sensuality. And now, the desire to wear these clothing 100% Made in Italy is really strong. Brave ragazze! Keep it up and good luck for the New York City presentation!

Alle 10 di martedì scorso ( 9 luglio ) l’ appuntamento era presso il Museo Boncompagni per l’anteprima esclusiva di una speciale collezione che avrebbe preso corpo e anima nel pomeriggio. Ma a dire il vero, questa collezione, la sua anima profonda l’aveva già al primo sguardo.

L’anticipazione per la stampa è un momento speciale. Gli abiti sono lì fermi e immobili, li puoi ammirare, studiare e perfino toccare dolcemente e “con cura” per tutto il tempo necessario a capirne l’essenza e la sofisticazione sottesa.

Quando arrivo Antonella Rossi era già lì. Intenta a spiegare la sua favola moderna ispirata alla storia di amore e passione tra la mortale Psiche e il divino Amore.
“I toni del celeste e le tinte naturali del panna arrivano alla sublimazione dell’abito da sposa” raccontava dolcemente. E io vengo immediatamente rapita e catturata dalla sensualità dello champagne quando il giallo ocra si denatura, dall’inconsistenza cerulea dell’azzurro polvere. Avvolta da quel leit motiv che impregna tutta la collezione, il  Romantic mood dove l’estrema femminilità e ricchezza di materiali mi ha fatto immediatamente pensare a un barocco rivisitato in chiave bonton.

Pizzi, merletti, organza e chiffon. Ricami in tombolo su base in pizzo. Peonie e rose, fiori dai petali numerosi e dalla texture vellutata. Velluto e mikado rigorosamente tinto a mano. Lana bouclé, cachemire e casentino lavorato con tecniche di impuntura che trasmettono un modo diverso di guardare al futuro.

E il futuro per Antonella Rossi è già presente, la figlia Giulia. Una ragazza dolce e determinata che ha disegnato in toto questa collezione dallo stile velatamente classico, ma di una eleganza intramontabile e senza tempo. Linee morbide, gonne e pantaloni a vita alta che esaltano la silhouette, pizzo e tulle che mescolano un nude look dal sapore contemporaneo a un retrogusto vintage anni ’40. Insomma una donna di oggi che sa quello che vuole, ma che non si vergogna a mostrare la sua fragilità e sensualità. Insomma la voglia di indossare questi capi 100% Made in Italy è davvero forte.
