Batman vs Superman

“Batman vs Superman Dawn to Justice” is just the title of a movie that’s just arrived in Italy two days ago! I say ‘just’ because it is evident that we are not to witness any dawn to justice, but I’d rather like to think we are the antithesis, the direct opposite! For the Japanese samurai warriors, justice is the first of seven personal virtues. The adjective “personal” is very important because it indicates that, for the Japanese ethical code, justice is a concept that starts from ourselves – and not from others.

“Justice and honesty are called Gi and predict that the warrior is scrupulously honest in relationships with others” – Bushido  {the way of the warrior}

Batman vs Superman just a metaphor of our times

I will start from here today by reflecting on what is happening in the world around us. Not only the recent tragic events in Brussels or those in Paris earlier this year, but what it is happening in the world system, where tragedies have always occurred, but since we now live them through the eyes of social media and 24 hour news channels,  they feel even more tremendous and spectacular.

There is certainly no need to read the latest American University research to discover that social media influences our opinions. We all have something to say – if we had the courage, that is.

Someone has even given a name to this phenomenon.

   “Slacktivism” is the light and undemanding way in which we deal with every issue. Freud called it “the psychology of crowds”.

Isn’t this an unfair and free virtual world, slightly removed from the reality we purport to write about? We are getting used to a distorted and filtered reality. It is distorted from the eyes of others who are part of our circle – leaders or influencers it doesn’t matter – and filtered by the people manipulating the strings of this mechanism.

“Facebook users are willing to say what they think in public, only half of the time, if they believe that their friends on social networks think differently. Those of Twitter quarter of times less. Users of Instagram, where the study has found that people tend to have greater awareness of the variety of ideas on social networks they use, they are willing to talk about it at the dinner table with their families only half of the time”

So who wins between Batman vs Superman?

A question that has no answer. Just as we do not know who is more popular: those who buy followers on Instagram or those who don’t? Those who are afraid of life or those who decide that life must go on?

The system works poorly. Perhaps it is corrupt, perhaps someone partially adjusts it and then dents it again, maybe the wheel does not turn as it should. But the wheel does not turn as it should, because it does not turn in our favour or in the direction of what is right rather than wrong? Assuming that fundamental difference exists, of course!

I am reminded that the system worked poorly even in the days when Batman and Superman were two different heroes. Both good. Both servers of justice.

Today everything changes very quickly –  our ideas, our moods and our social media status updates – and, much more often than we think, something we consider important at the time is actually only the result of a gimmick.

The idea at the base was do not make a sequel in the traditional sense but leave with a story line ‘mythological ‘said Snyder – the director of Batman vs Superman dawn to justice – to Filmink […]. So I suggested suddenly “What if Batman was the ‘bad’? ‘” Once you said you can not deny it – told the Los Angeles Times -. I mean, who can be a better one to fight than Batman? .

Yes, in this world system we label everyone. Those who go well and those that go wrong. Those who unfortunately were in the wrong place at the wrong time and those who are lucky enough to stay and pray.

Those who prefer that Batman & Superman will continue to be good and those who decide that being afraid is normal, but can not make sense of it all.

Because the greatest respect that we must have for life is to live. To travel, to fly, to run freely and go where we think that there is a system that works better, with the honesty to recognize that what works for us may not work for others, but that every different viewpoint deserves our respect too.
