Valentino Haute couture comes back to Rome, but in reality he never went away. Just a few months ago Valentino palace in Piazza Mignanelli, was inaugurated  near the popular Piazza di Spagna. Not only the largest store in the world, designed by David Chipperfield, the important contemporary architect, but also the place where all the collections come from.

Working, living, creating here makes a difference” say the two designers, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli. The duo have been working at the creative direction, since 2009, two years after last Valentino’s show in Rome. Mirabiliaromae it’s the name of the haute couture collection that last 9th of July took place in the square full of people; it’s also the title of the all-black capsule collection created by the designers with the eagle, recurring symbol of the city of Rome. A collection that speaks about Valentino classics. His red, black and transparences, the golden gown,  the accessories showy as some relics taken from one of the many Roman churches and the romance mixed with a dark streak.

The collection is highly symbolic, not only because it marks the return which is also like a debut in Rome, but also because each dress has a role and a meaning. From the opening dress, long, black with an eagle embroidered on the chest, the feathers on the skirt, the head of a bird like jewelry and the red ribbon to the end with the hood arches of the Colosseum described admirably Daniela Monti on  Corriere della Sera. MirabiliaRomae is made for admiration as the wonders of the Eternal City.

“Our women are half pagan goddesses and half black Madonnasand there is nothing truer in this statement. Monastic aesthetics and that romantic  and refined taste that can be labeled as a status symbol. I went to look around among Valentino’s people  and I saw a catalog of all of his recent collections, including foreign guests who arrived in cars signed by MirabiliaRomae to look at the collection accompanied by a sacred music and the lights that perhaps only a sunset in Rome can give us.
