Coats, parkas, capes and down jackets, which one are you?

Cappotti, parka, cappe e piumini

Coats, parkas, capes and down jackets: is it a matter of style or of temperature? The two of them often coincide. One of the main issue is that feeling cold in a skimpy mini coat at 0° C is incredibly little chic. The same thing is true if you choose to disappear in a faux fur coat or a big down jacket when outside is +10°C. Jackets should be choosen according to the climate of the place where we are, the rest is all about good taste. As always.

Coats, parkas, capes and down jackets how to choose

The coat should be mainly made of wool or cachemire and of excellent quality. No matter if it is a long belted robe MaxMara docet short and inspired by 60’s MiuMiu IT coat or one of the most modern version – the cocoon one. In every case the key word is not low cost . The ideal coat is soft and warm to the point of risking being mistaken for a teddy bear from friends and relatives. It is worth investing in a piece that lasts and that will be your first impression card for dinners and events during the winter.
The only coats you can save money buying them are those with prints and patterns. Tartan coats in perfect 70’s style or faux furs by Asos, are an alternative in case of street style or everyday look.

Style icons or survivor’s blankets: Coats, parkas, capes and down jackets

If I had to choose a near-perfect mix I would go for a parka with a colored fur inside. If you constantly surf the web you may have already seen fashionistas wrapped almost to disappear in super colorful and soft furs that almost makes us think that living the bed for real life in the morning is going to be less traumatic. Declined in quartz according to Pantone, fuchsia for lovers of bold colors and cherry red for those who certainly does not like to go unnoticed.

Concerning to capes, I do not find them a real alternative to a coat, but more often an accessory to use over a sweater and a tailoring pants especially in spring. If you can not say no to one of them  in the middle of winter, you can try with one with short sleeves worn under a coat in cases of freezing weather. Maybe white or colored like this entrancing cape.

The duvets are all a different story. Casual, padded, very bulky even if you go for the very popular 100g version. I would use them just to go to the gym, bring the dog out in the morning with my pijamas underneath or for skiing.
