To be a Fashion lover doesn’t mean to be a trend lover

It’s always difficult to find something that strikes you. It is even more complicated to understand the reasons why something gets your attention. Today, browsing a bit with the subject “the city”, I found this shot. Damon Baker captures “Domestic Disturbia” starring Iris van Berne. I don’t know his thoughts. Certainly I would never throw a Birkin away in place of rubbish –  what about you!? But, perhaps, this could be an invitation to reflect  – more than ever during this month of Fashion Weeks – to recognize and evaluate the new collections with an eye to the past. The  History of Fashion teaching us and renewing, today. Maybe it’s not bad to avoid the “disposable”, very recent, trend and aim to something not harnessed in the moment, but able to climb over the seasons…going beyond.

E’ sempre più difficile trovare qualcosa che ti colpisce. Difficile è anche capirne le ragioni. Oggi sfogliando un po’ di editoriali con oggetto “la città” ho trovato questo scatto.  Damon Baker cattura “Domestic Disturbia” fotografando Iris van Berne. Non so cosa ci ha visto lui. Certo non butterei una Birkin al posto di un sacco di spazzatura, che ne dite?!?  Ma forse è un invito a pensare più che mai in questo mese di Fashion Week a riconoscere e valutare le collezioni con un occhio al passato. Alla Storia della Moda che insegna e si rinnova. Forse non è male evitare i trend “usa e getta” e puntare sempre a capi non imbrigliati nel momento, ma capaci di scavalcare le stagioni… guardando oltre.
