Diary of a day with Paola Frani heritage by Funky Mamas

And as many today’s stories this one also starts with an email.
In the “object” one big word: Heritage.
A word, of course, but that reminds to the past while it’s    speaking to the present.
I read the press report all in one breath; I’m trying to figure out what it is, but finally I have learnt that my mind often reads between the lines and starts “wandering” to what it could be.

One thing is clear, the showroom will be transformed into a laboratory. A real creative hub where different skills and professionalism will meet to talk and then write about style.

Behind all this Funky Mamas and then, people like me, “dressed” and not just metaphorically by Paola Frani archive.

E come molti racconti di oggi anche questo inizia con una email. 

Nell’ oggetto una parola importate: Heritage. 

Una parola certo, ma che che ricorda il passato pur parlando al presente. 

Leggo il comunicato stampa tutto di un fiato, cerco di farmi un’idea precisa, ma ormai ho imparato che la mia mente spesso legge tra le righe e un po’ divaga verso ciò che potrebbe essere.

 

Una cosa è chiara, lo showroom si trasformerà in laboratorio. Un vero e proprio hub creativo dove diverse competenze e professionalità si incontreranno per parlare e poi scrivere di stile.

Dietro tutto questo le funky mamas e poi noi “vestite” metaforicamente e non solo dell’archivio di Paola Frani.

A rainy afternoon almost in the end of November. When the sky is gray and the rain drizzling and intermittent.

A courtyard, one of those with an industrial flavor and a sophisticated allure that Milan loves to hide  with jealousy between low buildings and trees still pixelated from the autumn foliage.

A staircase with black walls except one where a face is the background to the great and glittering chandelier.

Beyond the glass door an open space, a container of refined architecture for the Paola Frani SS 2014 collection that dresses  the contemporary space divided into thematic corners. The pastel colors, powder pink as light as a velvety petal,  ruffles and transparencies, a bit romantic and a bit bonton, the stripes that refer to holidays in the French Riviera,  yellow and finally the chic – botanique  prints that made me think of an enchanted garden,  stylized and graphic, but virtually fragrant.

Around a table, inside, the smiling and refined Funky Mamas. I feel immediately at ease . There is something that binds us together, the love for fashion we already knew it, the one one for green and nature has been a pleasant surprise .

“It took us days to get through Paola Frani’s archive. We have taken from the past collections many clothing and we want to show how the style is what is left over time, which can be revisited and adapted year after year with simple customizations. A statement accessory, an unexpected peter pan collar or an unusual combination . The fashion of the moment, the one made of prints, slogans and hi-tech fabrics, is perhaps the only bound to vanish . “

And there is an outfit ready, chosen for me.  A denim mini-skirt in shades of gray-green, a white turtleneck sweater transparent on the front, a classic blazer white too, to be wore tone-on- tone  and a statement necklace, made of blue  and green from the new collection.

I got dressed quickly. Some shots. I enjoyed it a lot trying not to think, leaving my shyness at the doorway.

In the end, I could choose something to bring with me. No doubt, the timeless blazer to wear with skinny jeans or a little black dress . Casual and elegant at the same time. To find countless versions of me, a little ‘ unusual , but not too much .

Un pomeriggio piovoso di quasi fine novembre. Quando il cielo è grigio e la pioggia sottile e intermittente.

 

Un cortile di quelli dall’aria industriale e dall’allure sofisticata che Milano nasconde quasi con gelosia tra palazzi bassi e alberi ancora pixelati dal foliage autunnale.

 

Una scala dalle pareti nere, tutte eccetto una dove un volto fa da sfondo allo chandelier grande e luccicante.

 

Al di là della porta di vetro opalino un open space, un contenitore di raffinata architettura per la collezione SS 2014 di Paola Frani che veste lo spazio contemporaneo suddiviso in angoli tematici. I colori pastello del cipria vellutati come un petalo di rosa, le rouches e le trasparenze romantiche e bonton, le righe che rimandano a vacanze in costa azzurra, i gialli e infine le stampe chic – botanicque, quelle di un giardino incantano stilizzato e graficizzato, ma virtualmente profumato.

 

All’interno, intorno a un tavolo, sorridenti e raffinate le Funky Mamas. Mi sento subito a mio agio. C’è qualcosa che ci accomuna, l’amore per la moda lo sapevamo, quello per il verde e la natura è stata una piacevole scoperta.

 

“Ci abbiamo messo giorni a “spulciare” l’archivio di Paola Frani. Abbiamo ripreso capi dalle collezioni passate e vogliamo dimostrare come è lo stile quello che resta nel tempo, che può essere rivisitato e adattato, anno dopo anno, con semplici personalizzazioni. Un accessorio, un colletto inaspettato, un abbinamento insolito. La moda del momento, quella fatta di stampe, slogan e tessuti hi tech, è forse la sola destinata a svanire”.

 

E subito pronto c’è un outfit scelto apposta per me. Una minigonna di jeans sui toni del verde grigio, un maglioncino a collo alto bianco e candido a mezze maniche, trasparente sul davanti, un blazer di stile classico anche lui bianco da abbottonare ton sur tone e uno “statement” necklace, una collana blu e verde della nuova collezione.

 

Mi vesto velocemente. Alcuni scatti. Mi diverto e non penso, cercando di lasciare la mia timidezza sulla soglia della porta.

 

Alla fine posso scegliere un capo. Nessun dubbio, il blazer senza tempo da indossare con gli skinny jeans o con un tubino nero. Casual ed elegante allo stesso tempo. Per ritrovare innumerevoli versioni di me, un po’ insolite, ma neanche troppo.
