Oh yes, we have been completely involved right now. We are in the Christmas fever and while cities already got crazy and the most sentimental among us are incessantly humming a romantic “All I Want for Christmas Is You”, many of us try to write down strict “to do” lists that often forget to look back.

The Italian Capital is now fully dressed up – and I prefer not to mention about the personal taste of the ‘lighting designer’  that decided to transform the Eternal City from the capital of the history and romance to an Expo showcase filling our historical streets with flags lit everywhere.

This is definitely the fullest period for aperitifs, cocktails and dinners based on sophisticated panettone, chocolate-covered strawberries, mini cupcake cakes and sandwiches that will not stop you wink at.

Occasios of use multiply and our wardrobe seem smaller than ever in this period.
Lucky there are everyday more online websites that offer really low cost solutions for every occasion.

How many of us can claim the right ‘cocktail dress‘ in the closet? And do you even know exactly what a cocktail dress is?

In the past it was a dress ankle-length, but it is from the late ’40s that took the shape it has now: a dress you can wear in the early evening, which lenght is about the knee. And the French Christian Dior was the first to use this term.

It‘s a dress with a strong personality, that doesn’t need to be shouted. A more bold and frivolous version of the little black dress. Often completed with lace and sequins it should be elegant, but not too classic. Feminine, but not overly sexy. Bonton, but not too girly.
Classic, but not serious.

In short, a cocktail dress is perhaps the right mix of creativity and originality, which marks the passage from the work clothing to the most fabulous evenings.
