Add a print to your flooring using contemporary carpets.
I often walk looking at the ground. This is a defect, but also an attitude.
I can’t enter a place without noticing the materials that characterize it and, first of all, I can not help noticing on which sort of flooring I walk on.
I love to recognize clearly the threshold, the space in-between an interior and an exterior, that semi-private space that introduce you to a place. I can imagine it with the “welcome” writing, with a carpet made of natural coconut, with a graphic design or even completely the opposite of what is inside.
Not all flooring are the same. Not only they are different because of their image to the eye, they also give you a different feeling when you walk it.
Maybe it’s because I’m a so called contemporary architect, but I admit that I prefer the screed. The wood and concrete industrial type are at the top of my list for their idea of continuity and structure they give to each interior. They are the perfect backdrop for any creative element one wants to add to the place.
But it is not always possible to change a floor and choose our favorite.
In this case we can definitely experiment the use of carpets.
Floral printed, in bright colors, psychedelic prints from the 60’s or monochromatic. Combined as in an endless collage , inspired by mix and match from runaways or striped to enhance the sense of depth in a room.
The ways to “dress up” a floor are many and the most funny part is being able to go back and renew continuously.

Spesso cammino guardando a terra. Questo è un difetto, ma anche un’attitudine.
