Garden Couture from Valentino to Zara passing for Dior, Gucci and many others. For some of us this is one of the latest up-to-the-minute trends, for others its an aesthetic concept that they started following a long time ago. Among the market-leaders there are those who are inspired by nature, as Dior has been since the 40’s with his corolla clothes. This trend has been a constant for the French Maison that has never stopped looking at flowers as a constant source of inspiration. Who can forget the purple delphinium hill designed by Raph Simons for his last show during Paris fashion week?
Garden Couture fashion inspired by nature
Talking about this mesmerising trend, many suggestions come to my mind. Botanic chic: the mood of muted shades, pastel colors and delicate shades; lightweight materials such as tulle, chiffon or poplin; precious embroidery and the clearly Botticelli inspiration. Just like Valentino’s women tought by Miss Moss reintepretated with Bukowskis’s paintings.
Inspired by a delicious bonton mood is the new Gucci world created by Alessandro Michele. Here the game becomes much more subtle and refined. There is not the simple imitation of Nature, reproducing flowers and fauna on patterns and fabrics, but an elegant mix and match that recalls a vintage and retro atmosphere.
Michele has decided to start from Gucci Heritage putting together little vintage treasures adding prints taken from antique fabrics in his personal collection assembled through antique shops and markets around the world – “put together that kind of garden” – cit Vogue.com
Impossible not to be charmed by the garden couture
Nothing is more easily wearable and for almost every life situation. Declinable from the short and carefree dress in the tropical, Hawaiian version perfect for the beach, to the more sophisticated ones – real works of art as modern “Primavere del Botticelli”. The garden couture is about style first and foremost, even before love for beautiful and bucolic inspiration. Obviously even the Spanish giant Zara could not remain indifferent and, after the following two Valentino’s advertising campaign images, here there are some of its low-cost proposals.
