“Ideas win today in our society. […] I ingest, then digest.
Art is really just a mirror of ourselves.”
A logo has a unique power. If you can identify an entire social status or an elitist class as luxury and style in your name, it means that you’ve climbed a high peak.
Obtain Cherish, Californian artist class ’75, is often inspired by fashion world and its symbols to produce his ironic and sometimes derogatory artworks.
Here he bundled very popular Fashion pills: Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Hermes.
I’m not sure I have the right interpretation for these Fashion pills artwork that are priced higher than ten thousand dollars.
Are they just a way to use a famous brand to whet our vanity?
If a less famous brand logo was on those pills would it have the same value?
I’ve found these artworks on sale in a Contemporary Art Gallery in Boston, and I wondered if anyone, apart from a museum, will ever buy them.
Certainly they offer an interesting starting point to investigate the not so recondite power than just a logo or famous brand have. So what is catching our attention more: quality, aesthetics or just the brand? For someone a name is not just a name, but a combo of letters that together have the power to speak not only to women.
It is not a coincidence that the famous Carrie’s quote: “When I moved to New York I bought Vogue instead of dinner. I just felt it fed more” has appeared on the blog all around the world the world, and alas, even on my now!
❤︎❤︎❤︎
“Le idee vincono nella nostra società. […] Io ingerisco, poi digerisco.
