NYFW 2018 considerations. 5 facts, six years later my first show in NYC

NYFW 2018 considerations. Many things have changed and they are still changing. It was February of 2012, my second time in New York, and the first time attending a fashion show. I was with Federica, colleague and friend. We rent a tiny room in a nice hotel on 5th avenue. We had bags, coats and shoes for at least ten people. Our clothes were so bulky that would not fit in all of the closets of the floor. There was snow outside. And much more on the following days.

We were happy and excited.

We had lost the first evening show due to the delay of our plane, Alitalia direct Rome – New York JFK, and the interminable row to passport control. Fortunately they came to pick us up. Neither a limousine nor a driver. A good friend with an open track where  all our suitcases could enter. Comfortably.

NYFW 2018 considerations, six years have passed since my first show

I remember, as if it were yesterday, the feeling of being in NY for a show with that cold, the snow and the enthusiasm of those who have achieved something. That evening the atmosphere was fantastic.

The next day we woke up at dawn for jet lag. It was 5 o’clock and we struggled in bed as much as possible before going out in search of a Starbucks. That morning, due to a snowstorm, everything was closed.

But we had no time to fell discouraged. We had the first show Noon by Noor al Lincoln Center at 12. Of course we were standing and very far from the catwalk. It was impossible to take pictures, but I can almost remember every single piece.

How many times have I gone before these NYFW 2018 considerations

After that time, I’ve been to NFW twice. From standing to second row, the passage was quick. I’ve been lucky enough to go to many shows: Nikolas K, Vivienne Tam, Simone Rocha, Calvin Klein, Desigual with the legendary Adriana Lima and many others. All have them have left a strong mark.

I photographed streetstyle look when there were still a few people doing it and I dreamt of living in New York as a New Yorker so many times that it’s almost as if I did.

What is NYFW now?

Now, it’s two years I’ve been writing from Europe. I miss New York, but I can not find enough motivation to lgo. It’s as if the focus has shifted to something else. Episodes make NYFW better than clothes.

Here’s what has happened these days.

  1. Kanye West hunted a journalist from Ralph Lauren’s 50-year-old party because she had asked him an uncomfortable question.
  2. Ralph Lauren celebrates  50 th birthday and the fashion show demonstrates how  fashion is close to politics during this period.
  3. Jeremy Scott shows himself as one of the most consistent among contemporary designers. He has never succumbed to the fashions of the moment and has always remained faithful to his being pop and eccentric.NYFW 2018 considerazioni, nyfw 2018 Tibi collection, jeremy scott s\s 2018 collection, kate spade ss 2018 collection
  4. Kate Spade parades for the first time since the death of its founder.NYFW 2018 considerazioni, nyfw 2018 Tibi collection, jeremy scott s\s 2018 collection, kate spade ss 2018 collection
  5. Tibi offers the best uniforms for strong women. The perfect gender less. Perfectly feminine men’s suits that can be worn by women and men.
