Difficult to distinguish when fashion makes fun of us and when it’s serious. Lately our critical spirit is put to the test. The catwalks bombard us with trends that at first sight seem a terrible non-sens, but which subsequently take hold in our imagination and become almost obsessions.
This feeling mainly concerns the world of accessories. Whether they are shoes or bags. The first time we looked at the Gucci sabo with fur (become wool) or Balenciaga’s maxi sneakers with diffidence, are far away.
Now almost everything is concentrated on the bags. Or better on designer plastic bags.
Designer plastic bags, the madness of super-luxe bags
The supermarkets, for ecological reasons, have made war on the hated plastic bags for years. And so, fashion, with its mocking attitude, have decided to propose it again.
They are not much more than banal transparent or colored bags, but that cost from 150 to 1150 dollars.
It would seem that the first to propose them was Raf Simons, in the spring summer 2011 fashion show by Jil Sander. On that occasion appeared the first orange bag, sold at the figure of 115 $.
Raf Simons launched a trend that resulted more like a provocation seven years ago. The anti IT bag. The democratization – extreme – of a fashion exchange.
The latest plastic bags designed by Céline, Burberry, Balenciaga
But the plastic bags are back. This year.
The most famous, already on the arms of the most trendy it – girl seen during the last PFW, is the one proposed by Phoebe Philo for Céline. 590 $ for a transparent bag with logo that lets you see the purses inside it. Then the version of Demna for Balenciaga, which has revisited the bags of the German supermarket in lambskin.
The version of Burberry which, in its latest autumn / winter 2018 collection, has proposed yellow and light blue latex bags. They can not be purchased individually, but used in boutiques for purchases.
The moral is that there is no moral. Needless to read environmental principles or ethical or humanitarian purposes. Here it is a matter of provoking and making people talk about themselves. Everyone is free to act according to its critical conscience.
