The Designers apartment 2016 {housed at 60 Rue de Richelieu} is not a 100% French or even a ‘Made In France’ emerging designers’ aggregator. It’s a fashion hub. Designers apartment is a place where young designers can bring their collections and have the opportunity to show it to buyers and the fashion press and media. Talking to them gives you the chance to feel the energy and creativity of designers who have reached a milestone, but who are also going forward and have so much more to offer.

Designers apartment 2016: 11 brands in one atelier

Different styles: eclectic, avant-garde, minimalist, with romantic flashes, contemporary and gently retro. Each of the 11 designers has his or her vision of style and a clear idea of what is their place in fashion. Some people can be more communicative than others, some prefer to let their clothes do the talking. For some of them it’s their first collection, others have already reached an awareness and maturity that makes them realise they’re a small piece of fashion history.

They share a well-defined idea of style. The use of high quality materials mainly chosen in France or Italy. A minimalist style that does not translate into a banal-looking total black, but rather in contemporary style, in pleasant and comfortable forms to wear.

Both the feminine and the masculine part is represented in their collection. The idea is to take items from their wardrobe and turn them into more female leaders. Off shoulder trench, blazers and coats. And shirts that are enriched by maxi bows and dresses in masculine fabrics with romantic ruffles. A pinch of irreverence for leaders that are totally shaped on the wearer.

Carolina Ritzler
