WOW, when it’s worth to say

Wow it is a very common word in comics and I say it continually. Only yesterday It happened something that made me really thing about it.

I was walking around Rome and I did not notice that behind me there were some tourists. When, at the end of ViaVenti Settembre, we reached Piazza della Repubblica they exclaimed WOW.

I perceived to be so used to those elliptical arches that are the basis of the historic buildings that surround the square with the central fountain from which you can oversight the center of Rome through Via Nazionale, that I started thinking.

Wow! everybody says it

I started thinking about all the times I say it and how the use of this term is subjective and a little abused. Of course I love cities. I’m an architect and a citizen by birth, in the heart and in my soul, I love big cities.

I have often said that I could never live in a small town, it doesn’t matter how beautiful it is. Either it is lost in the hills of Chianti or in a hut by the sea with the waves as an alarm clock at morning.

And so I thought when wow has a real value

Although I said it recently for a dress by Elie Saab found at Harrods; For the giant paella served by the sea at Molì de Sal and that fabulous villa designed by Frank Lloyd Wrigth in the 50’s, I realized that the only wow I remain etched, carved in my mind, are those I say when I’m in front of a natural spectacle.

A sunset in Formentera, the morning sun when you are in the middle of the sea, walking barefoot, the snow-capped mountains that dazzle and surround you, the endless forests and sand dunes where  it’s too long I do not launch more.
