It’s a week Altaroma is over and even if I’m still submerged by the photos that have to be edited and the drafts I still have to check out, I wrote down some thoughts as a sort of final report.
Reading all of the incoming press reports, numerous and passionate, I’ve started taking notes and felt the need to write down my own considerations.
AltaRoma Alt(r)Amoda as someone called it, seemed to have reached a point where even the altamoda leaves the established and secure tracks of classic features (as the Italian Director of Vogue Italia pointed out in her blog). “Because it is more difficult to achieve refined simplicity that a ball gown”(cit).
An “other” fashion that turns to be “a porter” in order to make a woman feel beautiful every day as stated by Salvatore Piccione, the winner of the now well-known fashion contest Who’s on next?.

The Beat of Africa show reminded us, once again, that the sustainability – of cultures, traditions, artisanal crafts – is perhaps the new frontier of luxury and with Stella Jean multiculture and differences are synonymous for wealth.

The metissage is the new black – it can be used by everyone as passe-partout for
the new intellectual and refined elegance.
A fashion that mixes art, design and creativity at 360 ° and sees a New York artist who always wears a Coppola hat to pay his tribute to the Eternal City. My City, the one often thickly criticized for being too old, too entrenched, too slow, especially when it comes to cutting-edge innovation, but that, twice a year, with Altaroma shows us its statement presence.

And so it happens that you enter secret locations, often hidden, such as Le Scuderie di Palazzo Ruspoli or Horti Sallustiani where nature blends with the history and architecture; and you find yourself sitting next to the clever British Vogue editor Suzy Menkes in the Press Room.
And when you are absently waiting for a show to start you recognize Diane Pernet‘s unmistakable look. You have the chance to listen to Franca Sozzani, who not without a hint of emotion, rewards the young designer.
This is only the 3rd edition for me, but here I met people who are now friends as Lavinia and Giulia and Jonna – met this year -from the Press Official office and thanks to people like them Altaroma is safe known place where you can cheat shortly between an event and a fast drink at the bar.
And last but not least of a green fashion insider like me, the historic location of Borgo Santo Spirito could not have been “greener inspired”. Pallet furniture turned the lounge bar into a relaxed rural atmosphere among lavender and green bushes.

And although, as usual, there’s always those who complain because it’s too hot, when it’s not raining and we’re too tired wearing high heels all day and we do not sleep enough because of too many events … I know that deep down we all agree that when it ends, we feel relieved just for a second while later on we are going to miss it because we have to wait six long months to see all of this happen again.
