Fashion and fantasy can be one thing! This is what happens in girl’s Paradise imagined by James Jane for SS08 Prada Campaign.
” The somewhat perverse intersection between Hieronymus Bosch and Aubrey Beardsley. (…) An intense landscape of man-eating flowers, dragons, hybrid creatures and eerie fairies.” James Jane, the visionary Taiwanese – American artist creates a visionary world I’d like to fall down. ❤

Love the sketches on the panels… have been thinking for a long time to get back to my pencils and sketchbook… just not enough time, got to MAKE TIME!!
Great post to remind me, grazie mille principessa XO!
Ei, mia dolce e carissima amica! If you have a bit of the talent of that guy you should immediately go back drawing and you have to show me something asap. I’ll be happy to write a post on your work too!!! ❤
PS. Grazie per chiamarmi principessa, I appreciate it so much!!!
Oh my! That would be so flattering to have you write a post on that!
I do have an affinity with drawing, all thanks to my mother’s creative influence. I have been drawing fashion since i was 5 and was the youngest participant in a national fashion design contest at age 14. 😀
But that is all in the past and I do feel the need to go back… I feel rusty but Richard says, one will never lose touch with something like that, its like learning how to ride a bicycle or to swim – its second nature!
AND, you are my principessa – i LOVE calling you that!! BACI!!
Ei wow! You have so many interesting stories to tell…that’s amazing! I’m always curious to discover always something new! Richard is right a natural talent should never get rusty or be wasted! You should start drawing again!
🙂
With all the encouragement and expectations, I will principessa 😀
I had the pleasure of having one of his art prints signed by James Jean himself when he came to Manila early this year. He is such a visionary. His work for Prada is amazing. 🙂
WOW!!!! You have been so lucky! I admire in an incredible way who can draw that way! Could you show me some prints? He is an incredible artist!!! ❤
Sure! I blogged about it here http://iamaimeediego.wordpress.com/2012/02/18/vanity/ and here http://iamaimeediego.wordpress.com/2012/02/27/instant-art/ 🙂
Love the sketches on the background
Siamo sempre sulla stessa lunghezza d’onda, anch’io ho scelto Prada per un mio prossimo post 🙂
It charms me that, after all this time, a Prada ad is still instantly recognizable as a Prada ad.
It’s something that goes even beyond the clothes. The strange, garden-y motifs Prada features have often smitten me with their playful, yet oddly menacing, tone.
There’s a hint of Dario Argento’s “Suspiria” in this image of whimsical schoolgirls swallowed in decor. Particularly (if you’ve seen the film) the room with the “lilacs” that are the entrance to the dark secret labyrinth that leads to the film’s ending.
OMG! Reading your comment is like reading a book of criticism, where film and fashion are compared (I remember the Givenchy’ post comment).
I love Prada, not only because it is one of the most well known Italian fashion brand, but most of all because of the great investigation and level of sophistication that is under their works.
Fashion like the most of all forms of contemporary expression is not only superficiality – as a lot of people could think- but is a fine & continous research for the most innovative and coolest solution. The great thing is that A message arrives to each one!
To what concern Dario Argento, I know him very well, but I should watch the film you are mentioning! thank you for stopping by! I appreciate it more then you can imagine! baci baci baci
